The Princess Royal Louise Suite at The Fife Arms
Take a sneaky look at my stay in the gorgeous Prince Royal Louise Suite at The Fife Arms Hotel
In the heart of the Scottish Highlands, in the quiet village of Braemar there is The Fife Arms, a 5-star boutique hotel with plenty of character, style and history. The Swiss owners Hauser & Wirth are internationally acclaimed gallery owners, and they utilise their countryside hotel as a backdrop for their collection of eclectic and remarkable artwork.

Within the hotel there are a 4 Royal Suites, including The Queen Victoria, The Indian Suite, The Duke of Fife and lastly The Princess Royal Louise. Each suite is designed and decorated to tell the story of its namesake and their connection to the vivid highland landscape. These suites are styled to allow a feeling of rich regality with the flourishes of a modern hotel experience. Earlier this year I was lucky enough to stay in The Princess Royal Louise:

Named after the eldest daughter of King Edward VII, Princess Louise was considered a thoughtful and reserved member of the royal family, nicknamed ‘Her Royal Shyness’. After marrying Alexander Duff, the first Duke of Fife, they lived in the grand Victorian hunting lodge Mar Lodge, 4 miles from the village of Braemar.

With a passion for the outdoors, horse riding and walking in the wild highland countryside, Princess Louise had a strong relationship with the Cairngorms – celebrated with the naming of her royal suite at The Fife Arms.

The Princess Royal Louise suite is an elegant, graceful, and feminine styled space, with pink damask wallpaper, floral imagery, and a grand 19th century 4 poster bed. The entire room is clad in patterned wallpaper with rich peaches and delicate pinks.

It is delightful to make yourself at home on the snug yet refined furnishings within the lounge area, a sofa upholstered in muted gold and pink stripes and velvety armchairs in flushed salmon hues. Dark wood floors are lightened by sumptuous blushing rugs and silky drapes over windows that look out onto the flowing River Clunie.

The recently refurbished bathroom features a luxurious free standing copper bath, rosy floral wallpaper, creamy marble tiling and a vintage wooden dressing table adorned with the specially created bath and body products for The Fife Arms, capturing the essence of the surrounding Highlands.
